In March we're reading The Gangster We Are All Looking For byLê Thi Diem Thúy. The discussion begins March 1.
Author Carleen Brice's sometimes serious sometimes lighthearted plea for EVERYONE to give black authors a try.
Thank you for joining the conversation! All opinions are appreciated. You're welcome to disagree with me, but please be respectful and watch your language. Racist, sexist and just plain mean comments will be deleted. Comments don't necessarily reflect the views of Carleen Brice. Now, let's hear what you got and then go read something!
Maude knows I have more than enough going on, but I would be interested in hearing highlights of your discussion.
ReplyDeleteAnd do I need one more book to add to my tbr? lol Thanks, Carleen.
Thanks, Carleen, for letting everyone know about the group. I just wanted to second Carleen's invitation to all of you. Once you join, you can participate as much or as little as you would like. And past discussions can be accessed from the group page. We've recently discussed Toni Morrison's A Mercy, Colson Whitehead's Apex Hides The Hurt, and Percival Everett's Erasure, among others. Don't be discouraged because the group is classified as private. You are very welcome and will be quickly approved. See you on Goodreads!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check these other conversations out!
ReplyDeleteI joined!

Thanks, Carleen,
Big thank you to Carleen!
ReplyDeleteCarleen was one of our fine judges for our first BHMW Contest. Come read the entries, congratulate the winners and check out what our judges had to say.
I recently heard the author read with Chris Abani here in D.C. I was able to get a signed copy of this book. It had been on the back burner (other things to digest as fuel for my novel) but I will place it higher on the list.
ReplyDeletemm, thanks for the suggestion. i am in a offline bookclub & i get to pick May's selection. i'm thinking of Marlon James' new book, but we'll see.
