Celebrate E. Lynn Harris!

Readers, authors and booksellers around the country will celebrate the release of E. Lynn Harris' final novel, Mama Dearest, on September 25. Check to see if there's an event in your town. Whether there is one or not, pick up a copy of Mama Dearest and help make this a #1 national bestseller in honor of E. Lynn Harris' life.

For locations on tribute events go here.

As always, I encourage you to shop locally, but I will link to BN.com (which features a great article about Harris) on this post because purchases there count toward the NY Times bestsellers list.

It's like when Bebe Moore Campbell died. I'm still a bit in shock. I mean they can't even get into their 60s before they're gone. I've read almost all his books.

I wonder if the trilogy will one day be made into a movie or even a series?

I too am still in shock about Bebe! I'm just glad they had the opportunity to leave their work behind them.

P.S.-I also thought I'd write because I had posted a link on oprah's site the other day & they took it off because i guess we're not allowed to put links or urls on there...so they might take it off when they see it & just tell you that you can't put it on there...that's what happened to me & i had to rewrite everything minus the links on there. if that's the case, here's what you wrote:

Wow, I am so impressed that you're open to hearing from all us attention-starved authors. I keep a blog called White Readers Meet Black Authors. I highlight (mostly) novelists that deserve a wider readership. Please check it out sometime: www.welcomewhitefolks.blogspot.com. Last year I named December National Buy a Book By a Black Author and Give it to Somebody Not Black Month. A tongue in cheek way to get folks to notice. Doing it again this year. My novels are Children of the Waters and Orange Mint and Honey (soon to be a movie on LMN called "Sins of the Mother" starring Jill Scott, and winner of the 2009 First Novelist Award from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association.)

My latest crusade is telling people about Before I Forget by Leonard Pitts, Jr. An excellent book about fathers and sons and life and love. Highly, highly recommend it! Published by a Chicago publisher-Agate Publishing. Cheers and thanks for all you do for books!

:] hope that helps in case everything gets erased...i know how frustrating it is! God bless!
